Marengo Cave's Music Hall will once again resonate with music as the band GS Megaphone performs in the mammoth room long noted for its excellent acoustics. Filming by independent filmmaker Luke Renner begins Monday afternoon, April 28th 2003 at 1pm EDT. Cave scenes will be featured in music videos, part of a series being produced at several Indiana locations. The producer, Luke Renner, feels his home state has more than enough to offer for the productions and always prefers working with the people he has often called his neighbors.
“Venom” is from the bands newest album “Beautiful World”, set for release in July 2003.
GS Megaphone is a three-time Dove Award nominated band that has set the benchmark for excellence not only with their music but with their commitment to the visual as well, being the first Christian band ever to release a DVD single.
Writer and Director Luke Renner made his first direct-to-market music video, “Good News,” at age 22, beginning a wildly successful career as a video director, and receiving multiple gold and platinum video awards and a string of #1 long-form Billboard chartings, beating out the likes of Britney Spears and the Backstreet Boys in weekly sales.
Luke has directed at Carnegie Hall, the Sydney Opera House, Red Rocks Amphitheater, and Broadway's Beacon Theater, working along the way with performers like Paul Simon, Randy Travis, Ricky Skaggs, Ralph Stanley, Marty Stuart, Bill Gaither, and Ray Boltz. His work has taken him around the world, from Port-au-Prince, Haiti to London, England to Samara, Russia to the brush lands of Tanzania, where he documented the lives of Maasai tribesmen.
Discovered and opened for tours in 1883, Marengo Cave National Landmark has been the location for the filming of several movies over the last 30 years but this is the first music video known to be filmed in an Indiana cavern. The Marengo Town Band, a brass band, performed in Music Hall at the turn of the century. More recently the room has been used for plays and concerts as well as square dancing.
